Welcome to the third and final part of this Disneyland Paris Trip Report series!
If you need to catch up, you can find Parts 1 and 2 here:
Extra Magic Time
We were in the parks from 8am until our airport transfer picked us up at 5pm.
We were expecting huge crowds because it was New Years Eve but it actually wasn’t as packed as the previous two days. We had picked a handful of things that we really wanted to do that day (meet Stitch and Aladdin, and ride Autopia). Other than that, we were happy to go with the flow.
Our first stop of the day during Extra Magic Time was the Disneyland Hotel. We had heard that there might be a Princess to meet on the 2nd floor. Sadly no princess arrived, so we headed to the Disneyland Parks to jump on a few rides.
First we went on Hyperspace Mountain, then Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast. I’m glad we were able to ride Buzz as it’s closed now for a lengthy refurbishment and it won’t be open on our next trip. I actually beat Amy’s score for the first time ever, so I went out on a high!
Then we headed over to Main Street to meet Amy’s favourite character, Stitch! He was brilliant as always. We waited for about 40 minutes which wasn’t bad. My general rule is that I don’t queue for longer than 20 minutes for a ride and 1 hour for a character. Stitch is a lot of fun. He got a bit offended that there was no Stitch pin on my lanyard but we hugged it out and I think we’re friends again!
Next it was time to finally ride Autopia! This ride has been closed every single time I’ve been at Disneyland Paris so this was our first time ever riding it. It was a longer ride than we expected, which was good because I broke my 20-minute queuing rule to go on it! I think it would be really cool if they themed this ride to the film Cars, but that’s just me armchair Imagineering!
Then we went back to ride Indiana Jones for the second time this trip. It was only a 20 minute wait and we had time to kill before we went to the Aladdin meet and greet. I still prefer riding it in the dark but it was fun. No regrets!
Aladdin was the highlight of my day, and definitely one of the highlights of the whole trip. He’s a character that I’ve tried to meet on every single trip but never managed it. But he was worth the wait! He was so talkative and he loved my Aladdin sweatshirt I was wearing. The meet was so special that I bought a pin to remember it by. (You’ll see that in my haul, coming soon!)
After all that excitement, we decided to go for lunch at the Rainforest Café. We needed to have a big meal as were being picked up at 5pm to go to the airport and didn’t know when we’d have the chance to eat again. We ate at the Rainforest Café on our February 2019 trip, so we knew it was going to be good.
I ordered the fajitas which came on this lovely “afternoon tea” style tray. It was really tasty and the portion size was just right. We will definitely be back.
While we were having lunch, we were looking through some of our photographs when I realised it was coming up to 1:15 (when the Lineberty slots to meet Olaf go live) so we thought we would give it a go! We weren’t expecting to get one, as they get booked up super quickly and the app has a tendency to crash.
Luck was on our side and we managed to get one straight away. After we finished eating, we were off to the Studios for a warm hug from our favourite snowman!
We had a few minutes to spare before our slot, so we hopped on Cars Quatre Roues Rallye as there was no queue!
Then it was time for our meet with Olaf. I can confirm that he has not yet found Samantha, but we have to let him know if we find her first! (If you know, you know).
Sadly it was then time for our final ride of the trip, Big Thunder Mountain. We had picked up a Fast Pass earlier in the day – which was just as well because the regular line was a 70 minute wait!
The very last thing we did before we left is watch Stars on Parade, which is the main parade at Disneyland Paris. As it was New Years Eve, it was on earlier than usual, at 4pm. I’m really glad we got to see it before we left. We’ve seen it so many times but it doesn’t get any less magical. We had lots of interaction with characters like the 3 fairies from Sleeping Beauty and Mickey Mouse himself, which always makes it that little bit more special.
On one hand, I was so sad to go home (as always) but I’ll be real and say that the crowds were getting VERY overwhelming. I don’t think I would’ve managed another day while it was like that.
Whilst we had an amazing time overall, I definitely wouldn’t go back between Christmas and New Year. We’ll be sticking to off-peak from now on!
Even though the trip report is now over, keep checking back as I will be sharing my full review of Cafe Mickey AND my Disneyland Paris haul very soon!
